The children are beginning to create their own story! Collaboratively we identified the characters and the settings of our story. We started to put together the ideas of the children to make the storyline. It was an exciting journey with them as their creative juices started to flow. They needed to make pictures of each scene they developed and in small groups worked together to design each page of their story. Here is a glimpse of an almost complete story. These are the pages of their upcoming story book. Next week we will work on our Title and Cover design. Watch out for it!

The children went on their first field trip this week. It was a treat to experience watching a story with professional actors, lights, sounds and a colorful set. Teacher Michelle read the book about the show to have the children enjoy it in Korean. The children remember the main characters of the story and their experience sitting in the audience. As the children experience stories through books, videos and shows. They are beginning to learn to identify the characters and settings through representations. We created drawings of the characters and setting of the stories "The Lucky Lady" and "Ugly Fish". Collaborative work made a big difference as they worked together to put the images in making posters of the two main stories we had this week. Mrs. Toms build up on the concept of stories as she encouraged the children to make books about letters. A story about a boy and girl collecting letters in different places and making them into food. To end the exciting week a Giant Elf visited our classroom and joined us in the playground. He came to tell us about a tree called Angel Tree. He reminded us about the sense of giving to others. Parents are invited to come and see our Giving Tree in school. If you want to sponsor a gift, a tree will be set up in front of our main office soon and you can see the request of the children from the orphanage. The children enjoyed meeting "Knuffle Bunny" the toy of a little girl that stirred a lot of things to make a fun story. The problem began when the character Trixie, the little girl, lost her Knuffle Bunny and tried so hard to communicate it to his dad. The short and fun story inspired the children to recreate the main characters of the story through their drawings. The children are able to identify the problem of the story and remembered how the problem was solved. Here's the story video the children watched. Anne came to our classroom and read a story "Where the Wild Things Are" that Hannah liked a lot. The children had a treat of hearing a story of the main character's monster friends In our Open House the parents had a glimpse of what is in a day of a preschooler. It was a wonderful time for the parents to share some time with their children creating things after listening to stories. The children had a blast sharing this day with their parents and showing off the things that they can do.
