As we open a new unit the children were engaged in showing the different kinds of light they have in their homes. They showcased how each one works and how they are able to use them. Ms. Pam even demonstrated how a flashlight works in a dark room when you want to see something. Their inquiring minds had a green light to start finding out more about LIGHT. The book "Daytime Nighttime" by William Low gave the children something to talk about. They shared the things that make day and night different from each other. They put their ideas into a collaborative painting of day and night. We counted fireflies as we end the week. We practiced "taking away" one firefly at a time and put them in a jar. Towards the end we let the fireflies go to let them light up the sky even more.
